CANIBEAT: Hyundai Genesis Sedan

James Church is the owner of this 2012 Hyundai Genesis Prada. For those of you who don’t know the history on the Prada, it is the KDM version of the USDM R-Spec, but with a few more bells and whistles. When I interviewed James he informed me that this car had a monster five liter V8 apposed to the 4.6l V8 that came with the R-spec. It puts down some rather impressive numbers with 429hp @6400rpm and 376lb ft of torque @5000rpm. Even though its got a big body it will definitely move when the pedal is stomped which makes the car fun to drive, but smooth to look at when you’re just cruisin’ the strip.

When you see the car it immediately screams VIP. The guys at Vipdout had the goal of being the first ever to build a Prada, with intentions of turning the tide of VIP builds completely. Times are changing and nowadays you are beginning to see different brands making their presence known when it comes to the VIP game. It’s hard to spot eye catching builds when it seems that a majority of them are just that, but having a keen sense of creativity, originality, and brawn will get you noticed rather quickly.

James had the whole thing envisioned and it was just a matter of time before it all came to be a reality, and all the parts and pieces adhered to the stock chassis. Ordering the wheels was the hardest part and it was a stressful ordeal when it came to finding the right size. He knew he wanted 20s, but he took a risk with a set of 19s from VIP Modular and it just didn’t suit his fancy. Once he had them mounted he practically sold them immediately. Frustrated, he hit up his homies at Impact Performance and they helped him find a set of wheels that fit the car perfectly, and got the color dialed in to match the car as well. They also played a role in installing his air ride and James worked many sleepless nights getting all of the KDM parts sourced and put on the car.

Since being built its been a long process with many ups and downs, and James definitely wants to thank everyone at Vipdout, and his friends at Impact Performance that saved the day with his wheels. He told me that he is in the process of selling the car to his brother in Hawaii so this is the only feature that will be done on the car while it remained with Vipout. Definitely an honor to collaborate with James and this dope Genesis! Maybe we will see it again sometime!
